Which pump is this?

This is Honda 16700-ZV5-003, the A-generation cylinder-head mechanical fuel pump. 16700-ZW1-004 is the same family on the same A-generation table. Compatible with BF25, BF30, BF35, BF40, BF45, BF50, BF75 and BF90 A-generation four-stroke rows (about 1997–2007; BF35 / BF45 are short years). The table lists each model twice — once on ZV5-003 and once on ZW1-004 — because both stamps are on this SKU. A 40 HP Honda badge is not enough: BF40A is this page, BF40D is 16700-ZZ5-003 (21FP010). Cross-ref 18-7334 on some internal tables is a Yamaha 663-24410 family number, not this Honda pump.

Signs yours is due

• BF25A–BF90A four-stroke cranks long when hot, then runs after you prime — A-gen head pump diaphragm tired.
• Fuel smell at the cylinder-head pump on an A-series cowl (BF40A / BF50A, not BF40D / BF50D).
• Old stamp is 16700-ZV5-003 or 16700-ZW1-004.
• Not an electric feed pump 16735 on larger EFI Honda, and not BF8–20 16700-ZW9.

Will it fit?

Compatible with Honda A-generation BF25 through BF90 in the table, about 1997–2007 by model (BF35 1997–98, BF45 1998). Serial is often not listed — read A vs D on the cowl. BF40D / BF50D VIN BBDJ / BBEJ is 21FP010. BF8–20 is 16700-ZW9. BF60 is 16700-ZZ3. BF75D / 90D is 16700-ZY9.

Engine horsepower alone does not prove fit. Match the number stamped on the pump you remove to the OEM column.

Install

Read A vs D on the cowl before you open the head cover. Photograph the head-mounted pump hoses. Replace the gasket, align ports, snug evenly — these small Honda pumps warp if over-torqued. Prime, leak-check, idle on muffs. If the old stamp is 16700-ZZ5, you want 21FP010.
