GHMarine exhaust riser bellow for the 4-inch manifold center-riser elbow-to-Y-pipe joint — the rubber boot on the exhaust path between the 4" elbow and Y-pipe. Not the transom bell housing exhaust bellow (17B1003) and not the U-joint or shift cable bellow.

Ships as one exhaust riser bellow; hose clamps included when shown in product photos. Marine bellows adhesive and expander tool (ref 91-45497A1) sold separately.

Which bellow is this?

This is the riser / elbow-to-Y-pipe exhaust bellow on the 4" lower exhaust path at the manifold center riser — not the large bell-housing boot at the transom (8M0124227 / 17B1003).

If you are not sure, compare the part number molded on your old boot or pull the drive and trace the exhaust rubber at the riser elbow — not the transom bell housing.

Signs yours is due

·       Louder exhaust, ticking, or a burning smell under the engine hatch at idle — inspect the 4" riser elbow boot; cracks or a loose clamp often show at the center-riser-to-elbow (or elbow-to-Y-pipe) joint, not at the transom.

·       Black soot or wet exhaust staining on the rubber or flanges at the riser / Y-pipe connection — open the engine compartment and trace the 4" exhaust path before you order a transom bell-housing bellow (17B1003).

·       Seasonal inspection: splits, hardened or soft rubber, or rusty hose clamps at the riser bellow — replace on a maintenance schedule. Water pooling at the transom usually points to U-joint, shift cable, or bell-housing boots, not this manifold riser tube.

Will it fit my drive?

Engine horsepower alone does not prove fit. Match serial numbers in the table.

Install tips — 4" riser elbow to Y-pipe

This boot seals the manifold center-riser elbow to the 4" Y-pipe inside the engine compartment — not the transom bell-housing bellow. Replacing 32-14358T alone usually does not require removing the sterndrive; open the engine hatch and follow your exhaust system shop manual. Work in a ventilated area if you use solvents.

What you need

·       Hose clamps (included when shown) · flat screwdriver or nut driver · wire brush or sandpaper for the metal exhaust tubes

·       Spray bottle with dish soap in water (helps slide stiff rubber — avoid petroleum grease on exhaust tubes). Optional: brief hot-water soak if the new bellow feels rigid.

·       Basic steps

1. Loosen all hose clamps on the old bellow at the riser elbow and at the Y-pipe / intermediate tube. If stuck, push the old rubber down the Y-pipe to expose metal tubes, or cut the old boot away.

2. Remove the old bellow. Wire-brush the metal elbow stub, Y-pipe stub, and any aluminum connector tube; wipe clean. Soften stiff new rubber in hot water if needed; wet tubes and inside of bellow with soapy water.

3. Route per your engine manual: often onto the Y-pipe / lower tube first, re-align the 90° elbow if needed, then work the upper end onto the riser elbow stub. Seat clamps in grooves; tighten evenly.

4. Run at idle on muffs or in the water; check for exhaust noise or leak at the riser joint. Re-check clamp tightness after the first heat cycle if the rubber settles.

Not the transom bell-housing bellow (17B1003). Bellows adhesive and expander tool 91-45497A1 are for transom / drive-off jobs — not this elbow-to-Y-pipe clamp-on replace.

FAQ

Will this fit my sterndrive?

Replaces OEM 32-14358T — the 4" riser bellow at the elbow-to-Y-pipe joint in the engine bay, not the transom bell-housing boot. Fits supported MerCruiser Alpha / Bravo 4" exhaust applications in our table. Match drive or transom serial and the number on your old boot — horsepower alone is not enough. Cross-refs: 18-2746, 89130, 9-72811.

What is in the box?

One riser exhaust bellow plus hose clamps when shown in photos. Not 17B1003 bell-housing bellow, not a three-bellow transom kit, not U-joint or shift boots. Adhesive and expander tool 91-45497A1 are not included.

How do I know it needs replacing?

Under the engine hatch, check the 4" riser elbow boot for cracks, soot at the flange, louder exhaust at idle, or burnt rubber. Replace split or hardened rubber and rusted clamps each season. Bilge water at the transom usually means U-joint, shift, or 17B1003 — not this riser tube.

Could this be the wrong bellow type?

This is elbow to Y-pipe (32-14358T / 17B1001). Not 17B1003 (8M0124227 bell housing), 17B1002 (32-44348T upper), 24B1052 (32-90949T 3" lower), 17B1007 (U-joint Gen II / 816431A1); Gen I U-joint → 17B1004 (60932A4); Gen I U-joint → 17B1004 (60932A4), or 17B1015 (open-style). Match location and part number on the old boot.

Do I need adhesive or expander tool 91-45497A1?

Usually no for this clamp-on riser boot — clean the tubes, use soap and water to slide it on, tighten clamps. Adhesive and 91-45497A1 are for transom bell-housing bellows (17B1003; Service Manual #6/#14), not this part.

Please note

Aftermarket replacement part. Not affiliated with engine manufacturers named above. "Compatible with", "Replaces", and cross-ref numbers mean this part is built to work like the originals listed — always confirm fit with your drive serial number.
