Signs yours is due

• Engine bay only: the short molded hose between the water pump and thermostat is soft, cracked, or heat-glazed — not the SX transom inlet.
• Coolant weeps at the pump outlet or thermostat neck where 3852288 seats; the drive seawater hose is dry.
• After an overheat, this pump-to-thermostat hose took a permanent kink and no longer clears nearby brackets.
• Divert: old hose stamped 3852352 on the SX/DP-S inlet → GH 18H1005. AQ drive seawater 875822 → GH 18H1002. Stamp 3852289 on a 3.0L package → not this SKU.

Install tips in the engine bay

Engine cooling-hose work at the water pump and thermostat. Cold engine; disconnect battery; relieve pressure and catch coolant per the service manual. This is not a sterndrive bellow job — do not use bellows adhesive or a bellows expander.

1. Confirm the old hose is 3852288 on the water-pump-to-thermostat route — not 3852352 / 875822.
2. Photograph orientation; loosen clamps; remove the old hose; clean the pump outlet and thermostat neck.
3. Seat the new molded hose fully without twisting it into a different path; place clamps on the clamp lands.
4. Tighten to the engine service-manual specification (no universal torque invented on this page).
5. Refill / burp the cooling system and check for leaks at temperature before returning the boat to service.

Will any 5.0 / 5.7L Volvo hose fit?

No. Confirm 3852288 on the cooling assembly / old hose. Neighbor 3852289 and later 3862523 are different parts.

Is this the same as 18H1005 or 18H1002?
