60932A4 U-Joint Bellow With Ridge — Fits MerCruiser Alpha One Gen I Sterndrives, Replaces 18-2751, 89050, REC60932A4

GHMarine U-joint bellow with ridge for the drive shaft universal joint inside the bell housing on compatible MerCruiser Alpha One Gen I sterndrives. Replaces OEM 60932A4 and cross-ref 18-2751, 89050, REC60932A4.

Gen I only. Alpha One Gen II (816431A1) → GHMarine 17B1007. Bravo → 17B1006. Match drive serial (Gen I thru S/N 0D469858).

Which bellow is this?

This is the ridge U-joint boot on the universal joint — not the transom exhaust bellow, not the shift cable boot, not the Gen I exhaust tube (78458A1 / 17B1015).

Pull the drive and check the old boot: Gen I ridge boots match 60932A4 / 18-2751. If your removed boot stamps 816431A1, you need Gen II SKU 17B1007.

Signs yours is due

·       Water in the bellows cavity after running — the ridge U-joint boot seals the universal joint inside the bell housing. Cracks or soft rubber let salt water reach U-joints and the gimbal area.

·       Every drive-off service — inspect the accordion boot for splits, pinholes, or hardened ribs; Gen I boots have a visible ridge profile — replace on sight before joint damage.

·       Grease weeping or rusty U-joint caps under a torn boot — re-grease alone will not fix a compromised seal.

·       Do not swap Gen I and Gen II boots — Gen I uses 60932A4 (ridge); Gen II uses 816431A1 (different accordion profile). Match drive serial, not engine HP.

Will it fit my drive?

Compatible with MerCruiser Alpha One Gen I sterndrives using OEM 60932A4 (ridge profile). NOT Gen II (S/N 0D469859+) — see 17B1007. NOT Bravo — see 17B1006.

Install tips while the drive is off

Remove the sterndrive per your service manual. Work in a ventilated area.

1. Inspect U-joints, gimbal bearing, and input shaft before installing new rubber.

2. Remove old ridge boot; clean bell housing flange and drive shaft landing areas.

3. Apply marine bellows adhesive to both boot ends; let tack per adhesive label.

4. Install large end on bell housing first; clamp through access holes.

5. Use bellows expander tool (91-45497A1 / 22ET001) on the drive-shaft end; clamp securely.

6. Reinstall drive; run on muffs; check U-joint cavity after a heat cycle.

FAQ

Will this fit my Alpha One Gen I or Gen II?

This SKU is for Alpha One Gen I and related MC-1/R/MR/TR drives that use OEM 60932A4 (ridge U-joint boot). Gen II (S/N 0D469859+) uses 816431A1 — see GHMarine 17B1007. Bravo drives use 17B1006. Match sterndrive serial on the drive tag.

What is the difference between 60932A4 and 816431A1?

60932A4 is the Gen I ridge U-joint boot (18-2751 / GLM 89050). 816431A1 is the Gen II accordion boot sold as GHMarine 17B1007. They look similar in photos but are not interchangeable — wrong generation causes leaks and repeat labor.

What is in the box?

One U-joint bellow (60932A4 family). Clamps and clips when shown in product photos. Marine bellows adhesive and expander tool 91-45497A1 (GHMarine 22ET001) sold separately.

How is this different from the exhaust or shift bellow?

This boot wraps the universal joint on the drive shaft inside the bell housing. Exhaust at transom = 8M0124227 (17B1003). Shift cable = 74639A2 (17B1005). Gen I exhaust tube = 78458A1 (17B1015). Three different locations.

Do I need the three-bellow kit instead?

If all three Gen I transom rubbers are due, consider kit GHMarine 17B3001 (78458A1 + 60932A4 + 74639). Order 17B1004 alone when only the U-joint ridge boot needs replacement and the other two were recently serviced.

Do I need adhesive and expander tool?

Yes for a proper U-joint bellow job — marine bellows adhesive on both ends, and expander tool 91-45497A1 (22ET001) to stretch the small end. Drive removal is typical.

Please note

Aftermarket replacement part. Not affiliated with engine manufacturers referenced above. Confirm sterndrive serial and removed boot stamp before order.
